Nolēmu vakarā nedaudz pabenčmarkot savu dzelzi:
Sempron 2500+ @ 2.2Ghz
DFI maacplate nF3 250GB
A-Data 1GB RAM @ 200Mhz 4-3-3-8@1T
Softs:
32bit versija - Gentoo linux 2005.1 Universal CD startēts no CD (neuztraucieties, programmas ielādes ātrums šajā testā neko nenosaka), kernelis 2.6.12
OpenSSL 0.9.7e
64bit versija - Gentoo linux 2005.1 atjaunināts līdz pēdējām versijām, startēts no HDD, kernelis 2.6.15-r5
OpenSSL 0.9.7e
Kādēļ uzsāku testu - pavisam vienkārši, kaut kā izlikās, kamēr startē pirmoreiz SSH, ka 64bit OS uzģenerēja atslēdziņas ātrāk nekā 32bitīgais.
Nemocīšu daudz, bet teikšu uzreiz - sagaidīju to, par ko bija nojausma. Softs, optimizēts prieksh 64bit arhitektūras sasit vienos vārtos 32bitu versijas. Jāatceras gan, ka vienkārši pārkompilējot softu uz 64bitiem, tur nekas labs nesanāks, jo nebūs izmantotas īpašās instrukcijas. Iespaidīgi, vai ne, it īpaši, ka jaudas pieaugums ir mērāms nevis procentos, bet reizēs, sākot no divām, līdz pat 3,5 reizēm ātrāk nekā analogs 32 bitu procesors. :o

Labprāt gribētu redzēt, kā performē Athlon64, Intel EMT64 un citi 64bit procesori dotajā testā. Gaidu interesantu pavērsienus, it īpaši no Intel ļaužu puses. :D
Tie, kam pašiem patīk rēķināt, rekur būs arī neapstrādāti dati.

Galvenais, lai peec iespeejas svaigaaks OpenSSL buutu uzlikts, jo redzeeju 2 gadiiju 32 vs 64 bitu benchmarku uz Sparc, bet tur 64 bitu versija tikai bija aatraaka tikai tik, cik melns aiz naga.

butu tads kaifs, ka darbotos uz to jauno 64bit progu bez jeegas un priecatos cik atri vis notiek :D
kiwi kads tev knoppix? man ir viens ar versiju 3.9, vai tev ir kads jaunaaks?
Man liekas, ka arī 3.9, bet tam nav nozīmes, visi 32bit sux :p
Vispār ir jautājums cik daudz openssl ir svarīgs cpu cache un RAM frekvence un taimingi un vai viens process spēj arī izmantot SMP vai tomēr jālaiž ir vairāki procesi
Tipa es laidu 3Ghz 1MB cache 250 ddr 2-2-2-5, kas ir diezgan agresīvi :) Tiesa man ir tikai 1cpu, a serverim varbūt ļoti daudz, desmitos un tad vēl threading un multi core cpu :)

cik es zinu, tad shamais izmanto tikai vienu virtuaalo procesoru, taa kaa savaa zinaa Intel rezultaati nav nemaz tik graujoshi, bet tomeer stabili zaudeejoshi AMD sisteemaam :-)

Cik man zinaams, tad EM64T ir tas pats kas AMD64 miinuss divas powersaving instrukcijas. Ljoti gribu, lai kaads nobenchmarko shitaadu Intel. Da kaut vai Jaanjnah tikai 32bitos.

Es pačekošu kurā live CD 64bit ir openssl, bet vispār it kā jābūt, jo bez tā SSH varētu būt probzas

The EMT64 chips are still 32 bit
chips. Intel will not have any 64 bit consumer chips until next year.
EMT64 (Extended Memory Technology 64) chips allow a P4 chip to
use the same registers that a 64 bit chip accesses, so that they can use
more than the 4GB that a non-EMT64 P4 can access. As a side advantage of
this, the chip can "execute" the x86 code, but it does so through emulation
using a 32 bit thunking layer. It does not run the 64 bit OS as a 64 bit
OS, but as a thunked OS. This is slow and clumsy at best. The point I am
trying to make is that the EMT64 bit chips *ARE NOT* 64 bit chips. They are
able to use certain functions of the x86 extensions that allow it to access
the same registers, but that is all. It is *NOT* a 64 bit chip, not will it
ever be. Intel has announced that it *WILL* produce 64 bit chips next year.
I want those who are considering buying a 64 bit computer to understand that
while the EMT64 can emulate execution of the code, it is *NOT* a 64 bit
chip. Never was, never will be.
